While mylar balloons are a quick and easy way to add accents to your balloon garland, there are also lots of fun ways to DIY specialty accent balloons.

In this post we'll show you how to create some really awesome balloons by double stuffing latex and bubble balloons and using gold flakes or paint as accents.

How to Double Stuff Balloons with Gold Flakes

Materials you will need:

  • 20 inch clear Bobo Bubble balloon

  • Gold foil flakes

  • sheet of paper

  • screwdriver or chopstick

  • 17 inch latex balloon

  • electric balloon pump or hand pump

Step One

Pre inflate the bubble balloon and then release the air. Pre inflating the balloon will help stretch it out and give you room to insert the gold foil.

Step Two

Roll the paper into a funnel shape and insert the smaller end into the bubble balloon.

Step Three

Pour gold foil flakes into the funnel and use a screwdriver or chopstick to push the flakes down into the balloon. Once all the gold foil flakes are inside the balloon, remove the funnel and shake the balloon a bit to get the gold evenly dispersed.

Step Four

Pull the latex balloon over the screwdriver or chopstick. Hold onto the tail end of the latex balloon, insert it into the bubble balloon.

Step Five

Inflate the latex balloon and tie the end. You do not need to tie the bubble balloon. To attach your accent balloon to garland, you can tie a 260 balloon to the tail, tie the 260 into a loop, and stretch the loop around another balloon in your garland.
